HKRU launches ticket sales for Asia’s Olympic sevens qualifiers in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Rugby Union on Friday announced the launch of ticket sales for its 2016 Olympics rugby sevens Asian qualifying tournament at Hong Kong Stadium on November 7-8.
Adult tickets cost HK$200 for one day or HK$360 for both and are available online from the Asia Rugby Sevens Qualifiers page at the Ticketflap website.
Children aged 12 and under can enter the stadium for free but must register with Ticketflap in advance to receive their complimentary ticket.
Fans who are referred to the Ticketflap website by a local rugby club can take advantage of a 20 per cent discount offered by the HKRU – during the online buying process these supporters will be asked to enter a unique promo code given to them by their club.
Weekend passes for the stadium’s executive level are also available to regular fans at HK$1,000 (adult) and HK$500 (child), while daily executive level tickets cost HK$550 (adult) and HK$260 (child).
“The ticket packages are designed to make the Asia Rugby Sevens Qualifiers accessible to the entire community as part of the Hong Kong Rugby Union’s commitment to filling the stadium with fans supporting team Hong Kong,” said HKRU tournament director Sam Pinder.
The Hong Kong tournament is the only qualification event for Asia’s top men’s teams bidding to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics where rugby sevens makes its Games debut.
Hosts Hong Kong – Asia’s defending sevens champions – will be among the 12 men’s teams battling for the single Olympic berth on offer to the winners of the one-off tournament.
Eight Asian women’s sevens teams, including Hong Kong, will compete over the same weekend at the stadium, but their Olympic qualifiers comprise a two-leg series with the second event taking place November 28-29 in Tokyo.
