Bayern Munich geared up for Wednesday's German Cup quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund with a 6-1 win over Werder Bremen as coach Jupp Heynckes made sweeping changes. Bayern's win left them 18 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga as Heynckes made six changes from the team who won 3-1 at Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday. "Those players who came in justified my confidence in them," said Heynckes. "Wednesday will be a real cup battle." AFP

In-form striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to help St Etienne beat French Ligue 1 bottom club Nancy 3-0 and close the gap on fourth-placed Nice to one point. Fellow attacker Brandao put the visitors ahead in the 17th minute from a neat Renaud Cohade cross and Aubameyang made it 2-0 five minutes before the break. Aubameyang's sixth goal in five games then sealed victory with two minutes to go. "I work hard, very hard, and I have been rewarded with these goals," the Gabon international said. Reuters
