Mesut Ozil gave Arsenal fans a glimpse of his creative talents in a comfortable 3-1 Premier League win at Sunderland yesterday.

Arsenal threw £42 million (HK$515 million) Ozil into the fray for his debut at Sunderland and he set up the opener for Olivier Giroud after just 11 minutes before Aaron Ramsey continued his excellent form by scoring twice in the second half.

Ramsey was quick to hail Ozil's impact, saying: "You've seen what he is all about, slipping those balls in, he has one of highest assist-rates in Europe and he is going to create a lot of opportunities for us."

Meanwhile, Manchester City's glittering frontline misfired in a goalless stalemate at Stoke City.

"We made them look quite ordinary today," Stoke boss Mark Hughes, who was fired by City in 2009, said. "In terms of chances and general play, we were always looking positive.

"It was just a shame we didn't take our chances. Box to box we were excellent but we needed that killer instinct."
