Frank Lampard, who spent 13 seasons with Premier League side Chelsea, could face his former club next month under a loan deal from his new Major League Soccer team to Manchester City.
The in New York reported that Lampard, who signed a two-year deal last week with New York City FC, will be loaned to the Manchester club for six months by the US expansion team, who will play their first MLS season next March.
The 36-year-old England midfielder hopes to keep his name in the mix for national team duty with the move, according to the newspaper.
Lampard, a member of the England squad that exited this year's World Cup in Brazil in the group stage, has scored 29 goals in 106 appearances for England since making his international debut in 1999.
