Home and AwayWhy Jermain Defoe's laughable ad for personal assistant is a slap in the face for Sunderland fans
Sunderland striker should be given a red card for advertising for a PA to attend to his every whim from feeding to pets to promoting his clothing line

The transfer deadline is fast approaching with clubs hiring and firing with the combined force of trigger-happy Spaghetti Western director Sergio Leone and finger-jabbing apprentice appointer Donald Trump.
But it was not the headlines about Chelsea making a move for Everton's John Stones or Manchester City chasing Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne that caught the eye. It was the hiring tactics of Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe.
Defoe, 32, has been on his own talent hunt, advertising for an executive dogsbody to help him make it through each busy day as an EPL football star.
Defoe's advert afforded him the publicity he so craves, even if it is of the wrong sort
Hardly a week goes by without a new book we all hope lifts the lid on these prima donnas. Few sate our expectations, but Defoe's advertisement for a PA arguably revealed more any such tome ever could.
Pampered? Humph, the word fails to come even close after examining the duties that must be carried out by Defoe's successful applicant.
She or he will be tasked with arranging the former England player's lunch, helping to feed his family pets, do his shopping, ensure the fridge is well stocked and the house plants watered.
Then there's the dry cleaning, making sure the gardeners know their weeds from their orchids, choosing interior designers and guaranteeing his family birthday parties are the talk of the town.
