The Malaysian Super League doesn’t often make headlines outside the country, but Penang player Mohd Faiz Subri was the toast of social media on Tuesday after a stunning 35-metre free-kick.

Subri was trending on Twitter after his crazily arcing effort in a 4-1 win over Pahang, that seemed to be heading for the goalie’s right-hand corner before changing direction and nestling in the goal’s opposite side.

Subri’s effort is already being touted as a contender for Fifa’s ‘Puskas Award’ for best goal of the year.
