Carlos Tevez opens Chinese Super League account as Shanghai Shenhua stun Jiangsu Suning
Argentinian is on target at Hongkou Football Stadium with Colombian captain Giovanni Moreno also scoring twice as Gus Poyet’s side record convincing 4-0 win in domestic opener

Carlos Tevez opened his Chinese Super League account with a first-half penalty and provided two assists as Shanghai Shenhua beat Jiangsu Suning 4-0 at Hongkou Football Stadium on Sunday to help ease the pressure on Gus Poyet’s side.
Tevez made no mistake 35 minutes into his domestic debut after the home side had been awarded the spot kick for a handball after earlier providing the cross for captain Giovanni Moreno to open the scoring with a header.
Substitute Mao Jianqing added a third in the second half before Moreno sealed the win over last seasons second-place finishers.
Argentinian Tevez joined Shenhua from Boca Juniors in his homeland for a reported US$800,000 a week, although rumours have already started that the 33-year-old is unhappy in China, with the club and manager Poyet under pressure after losing last month’s AFC Champions League play-off to Australia’s Brisbane Roar.

But Shenhua made the ideal start to their domestic campaign as Colombian captain Moreno headed home after just 17 minutes from a Tevez free kick before the Argentinian cooly sent Jiangsu goalkeeper Gu Chao the wrong way from the penalty spot 10 minutes before half-time.
Shenhua remained in control in the second half and added a third with 11 minutes remaining as substitute Mao bundled home from close range after Tevez’s corner had been sent back into the area by Colombian Fredy Guarin.

And Tevez was again involved seven minutes later as the Argentinian set up Moreno to seal the win before Jiangsu’s miserable night was completed as Brazilian Alex Teixeira was sent off for lashing out at an opponent.
Jiangsu were without former Chelsea man Ramires and rarely threatened Shenhua, with Brazilian Teixeira the main attacking outlet for the side that finished second last season.
Elsewhere, six-time defending champions Guangzhou Evergrande beat Beijing Guoan 2-1 thanks to a double from Brazilian Paulinho.
Also on Sunday, Henan Jianye drew 0-0 with Hebei CFFC after Chongqing Dangdai Lifan and Yanbian Funde earlier also shared a goalless draw.
Shanghai SIPG lead the Super League table after the opening round of fixtures after beating Changchun Yatai 5-1 on Saturday.
