Jozy Altidore and Jordan Morris score goals to give Bruce Arena’s men the title

Jordan Morris scored the winning goal in the 88th minute after Jozy Altidore had scored a fantastic free-kick, and the United States beat Jamaica 2-1 on Thursday for their sixth Concacaf Gold Cup title and first since 2013.

Altidore’s goal, a beautifully struck free-kick from almost 30 yards, in the 45th minute beat goalkeeper substitute Dwayne Miller after Jamaica captain Andre Blake went off with a hand injury.

Je-Vaughn Watson tied the score in the 50th minute off a Kemar Lawrence’s corner.

Morris, a star at nearby Stanford from 2013-15, got the Cup-winning goal with a right-footed effort after Jamaica’s defence failed to clear a Gyasi Zardes cross. It was the fifth international goal for Morris, who ended tied as the tournament’s leading scorer with three goals.

The US extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games (including nine wins) under Bruce Arena, who became the first coach to win three Gold Cup titles.

US captain Michael Bradley earned the Golden Ball as the tournament’s top player.
