The draw for the third round of the English League Cup, otherwise known as the Carabao Cup, was made in Beijing on Thursday and threw up a series of interesting ties.

Reigning champions Manchester United, who entered the draw at the third round stage alongside the other Premier League clubs with European commitments, were paired at home with Burton Albion.

There was just the one all-Premier League match-up when Leicester City were drawn to face Liverpool.

Elsewhere, lowly Doncaster Rovers secured a dream trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal, while Burnley drew Leeds United, and Nottingham Forest’s reward for overcoming top-flight Newcastle United was a tie with defending Premier League champions Chelsea.

The third round ties are set to be played during the week commencing 18 September.
