Now TV secures rights to broadcast English Premier League for the new season
Local broadcaster will deliver all 380 games during the 2018-19 season
PCCW Media has announced that they have secured the rights to broadcast the 2018/19 English Premier League in Hong Kong with Now TV delivering live coverage for all 380 matches starting next month.
It means the most popular soccer league in Hong Kong will return to Now TV exclusively, replacing LeEco, formerly known as LeTV, who had won the rights to the Premier League for the past three seasons.
LeEco, which formed part of the LeSports Hong Kong organisation, had experienced financial problems and has been liquidated.
LeEco had also encountered financial problems in gaining exclusive TV rights for this summer’s Fifa World Cup in Russia.
Now TV secured broadcasting rights from LeEco in December and ViuTV, PCCW’s free network, has been showing some of the World Cup games for free with the two semi-finals and final to be broadcast. Viu TV has so far shown 16 games for free.
