Japan’s Naomi Osaka made light work of France’s Caroline Garcia in their Australian Open second-round meeting.

Osaka won 6-2, 6-3 at Melbourne Park’s Rod Laver Arena to move on to face Tunisian Ons Jabeur in the next round.

The third seed wasted little time in beating Garcia, taking just 61 minutes.

World No 3 Osaka recorded her 16th straight win, which runs back to her winning the US Open last year.

She pulled out of the French Open, just as she missed the climax of the pre-Australian Open Gippsland Trophy last weekend.
