Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka has called out those who love Asian culture but attack the community in a post on social media.

“If people loved Asian people as much as they love bubble tea, anime, mochi, sushi, matcha, etc …,” the world No 2 wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

“Imagine profiting/enjoying things that come from a culture and then attacking/diminishing the ethnic group that created it.”

The post comes on the back of rising hate crimes against the Asian community in the US, with stars such as Jeremy Lin also speaking out.

Lin praised Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard for wearing a “Stop Asian Hate” T-shirt on the bench in his team’s NBA game against Orlando Magic on Friday night.

“Wowww thanks Dame Lillard for the support,” Lin wrote on Twitter, retweeting ESPN’s image of Lillard wearing the T-shirt on the bench. “Legit means a lot! Learning how I can be a better ally as well.”
