Australian television presenters are known for their straight-talking, pull no punches style of journalism. Off air that is.

A video conversation between two anchors on Australia’s Seven Network blasting Novak Djokovic has gone viral after it was posted online on Wednesday morning.

Mike Amor and Rebecca Maddern are seen questioning the apparent mistakes that appeared on Djokovic’s visa application and making personal attacks on the 20-time grand slam champion. And they did not hold back.

“That Djokovic is a lying, sneaky, ***hole,” Maddern said, apparently unaware she was being recorded.

Djokovic’s bid for an unprecedented 21st singles grand slam title at the Australian Open may now hinge on a single answer he gave on a visa form – had he travelled in the fortnight before his arrival?

Maddern was heard saying it was “unfortunate that everybody else stuffed up around him [Djokovic]” and went on to say she did not think “he was even Covid-positive”.

For his part, Amor was slightly more forthright, calling Djokovic’s arguments “a bull**** f***ing excuse” and saying the player “then fell over his own lies”.
