Coleman Wong has another junior grand slam title within his sights. The 17-year-old surging tennis rookie stormed into the finals of the Australian Open junior boys’ doubles on Thursday alongside Bruno Kuzuhara, with a convincing straight sets win over third-seeded duo Gabriel Debru and Kilian Feldbausch. It was a swift and clinical win for Wong and Kuzuhara, who needed just 65 minutes to book their spot in the final. “It’s amazing and an honour to represent Hong Kong in the Australian Open finals,” Wong told the Post . “We were just playing our game and it turned out pretty fast, I was very happy with our performance.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Wong Chak Lam Coleman 黃澤林 (@coleman_wong) Wong, who made history for the city after he became the first player to win a boys’ doubles grand slam title at the US Open last year, now has the opportunity to double down and take the city’s first Australian Open title. The five-time ITF junior circuit singles winner kicked off his 2022 season with a semi-finals finish in the J1 Traralgon 2022 Tennis Tournament. Earlier this week Wong cruised past Turkish youngster Togan Tokac 6-2, 6-2 to book a spot in the junior boys’ singles third round, but was knocked out by seventh seed Edas Butvilas. Wong said the chemistry with Kuzuhara was getting better with each match and was looking forward to their final match. “Yes, our chemistry just keeps getting better match by match and it’s only getting better. I will just focus on what I have in front of me and just try my best in all of them.” The pair will step into the bright lights of Margaret Court Arena for Friday’s final, where they face American Alex Michelsen and Paraguay’s Adolfo Daniel Vallejo.
