OnePlus announced that the new OnePlus 8 series phones will be unveiled on April 14. The unveiling, like many other events during the coronavirus pandemic, will be held online.
The only details officially revealed by OnePlus are that one of the new phones will feature a 120Hz display and all models will have 5G. But there have been many leaks possibly revealing what we we’ll see in a couple weeks. Improvements include bigger batteries, wireless charging and four rear cameras. For front-facing cameras, leaks suggest the company is replacing the OnePlus 7 Pro’s pop-up selfie camera with a hole-punch display.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau boasted on Weibo today that the new products will offer “the best screen experience” of any smartphone released this year. It’s not clear yet how many phones will be available for sale first. Global smartphone market is expected to be hit hard because of disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
