Huawei’s HarmonyOS maintains lead over Apple iOS in China for sixth consecutive quarter
Huawei’s Nova series smartphones ‘contributed heavily’ to the competitiveness of HarmonyOS, according to Counterpoint

HarmonyOS, Huawei Technologies’ self-developed operating system, has maintained its lead over Apple’s iOS for the sixth consecutive quarter in the mainland market, as the Chinese tech giant steps up its self-sufficiency efforts.
HarmonyOS accounted for 17 per cent of China’s smartphone market by operating system in the second quarter, ahead of iOS’s 16 per cent, according to a report published by Counterpoint Research on Monday.
That makes HarmonyOS the second-largest operating system in China behind Android, which had 66 per cent of the market.
The Huawei operating system “continued to grow” and remained the second-biggest mobile operating system in the country for the sixth consecutive quarter, Counterpoint said.
Huawei’s Nova series smartphones “contributed heavily” to the competitiveness of HarmonyOS, while the foldable Pura X handset was also well received, it noted.

Globally, HarmonyOS is installed in 4 per cent of smartphones sold in the most recent quarter, trailing far behind Android and iOS, with 79 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively, according to the research firm.
