  • Hong Kong are without a number of stars who retired last year, including former women’s top 10 player Annie Au
  • Both teams face India in the semi-finals, with the women being slight favourites while the men go in as underdogs

The 18-year-old shows her potential by beating senior players on her way to winning the home tournament, while Yip Tsz-fung snatches the men’s title.

The newly added programme means five gold medals will be up for grabs, along with two singles and two team events, at the region’s biggest multi-sport games.

Carrying two heavy trophies from the Asian Individual Championships on arriving at Chek Lap Kok airport on Wednesday night, Hong Kong squash star Annie Au Wing-chi found it impossible to go home by public transport - the way she normally does.

Hong Kong's men have been conspicuous by their absence from the podium at the Asian Individual Championships for nearly two decades, but there is renewed hope the situation is about to change.
