Whether retiring or looking for a second home for the family, more Hongkongers are now seriously considering living in Malaysia, especially Kuala Lumpur (KL). The convenience of modern urban living offered by the capital city has more of them choosing urban environments over the suburbs.

According to Ivan Wong, senior manager of international properties at Hartamas Real Estate (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, more Hongkongers are interested in family-sized homes such as three-bedrooms as they allow for more flexibility between self-occupation and renting out.

“The perception of Malaysia has improved a lot and is more positive among Hongkongers. A few years ago, Hong Kong investors tended to buy smaller buy-to-let properties in Malaysia as they sought to diversify portfolio abroad. Some didn't even bother to visit in person. But now I’m seeing more Hongkongers pay visits to KL to get to know what it’s like to be living here, including schooling for children and healthcare facilities,” he said.

Most Hongkongers are so used to the convenience of city living that they not only want their KL homes to be bigger and better, but also want every imaginable amenity and recreational pursuit at their doorstep. The Star Residences KLCC project, which is being marketed by Hartamas Real Estate, ticks all the checkboxes.

When it is completed later this year, Star Residences KLCC is set to become a new landmark in the KL City Centre; located at KL's own Star Walk of Fame, literally only a stone's throw from the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

Star Residences is part of Star Development project, a mixed development of residential and retail units comprising Star Residences, a 57-storey tower and two 58-storey towers, including the Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur, Star Boulevard, Star Walk of Fame, five blocks of six-storey units for retail, food and beverage, and entertainment.

Occupying four acres of land, the development is centrally located on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng in the KLCC Central Business District and has a gross development value (GDV) of RM3billion. The Star Residences Towers 1 and 2 have nearly sold out, while the condo units at the most premium tower, Ascott Star, are now being offered for sale.

Star Residences KLCC has everything from shopping to dining with retail spaces spread over five blocks. The Star Boulevard offers a variety of cuisines to cater for all tastes, including Malaysia’s first Michelin Star-rated restaurant. If you are planning a leisurely evening perusing shops and having a drink, the shops and F&B outlets along the Star Walk of Fame are where you should head to.

A few steps away is Suria KLCC, Avenue K and Ampang Park shopping malls, which provide the residents of Star Residences with plenty of options for meeting their daily shopping needs. The residences are also within a short walking distance of key commercial buildings, including Petronas Towers, The Intermark Tower, and G-Tower. The city’s best healthcare centres are just a short drive or taxi ride away.

Star Residences KLCC is just 11km from the KL City Air Terminal located at KL Sentral (for a direct rail connection to Kuala Lumpur International Airport), and also a convenient walk to the Ampang Park Light Rail station for access to the city’s subway network.

But a metro lifestyle is much more than a central location and superior accessibility. It is not just what residents and guests can do nearby, but also what they can do within the complex to appreciate the moments in life. The Star Residences clubhouse is designed to take leisure and healthy living to a whole new level.

Spread over 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor spaces, the clubhouse will feature four different types of swimming pools, entertainment deck, sky bar, private gourmet kitchen, hot spring/spa pool, heated hydro massage pool, hydro massage therapy room, plus over 40 other fabulous lifestyle facilities.

Thoughtfully planned out, the architecturally distinctive Star Residences has scooped multiple international awards, namely International Property Awards, London for Best Apartment Design; Best Mixed-Use Architecture Design and Mixed-Use Development Concept; and the BrandLaureate Best Brands Award Signature Brand Property Luxury Condominium.

After some hiccups, major infrastructure projects that were behind schedule are now back on track. According to Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Agency, the expansion of the Land Public Transport network both in Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley and across Malaysia is on track and continues to make a positive impact for Malaysians. The projects include building new mass rapid transit (MRT) lines, extending the existing LRT lines, and enhancing the city bus system.
