Further evidence has emerged that birds evolved from dinosaurs, according to a new study published in the peer-reviewed journal iScience on December 22, 2021. A Chinese research team has studied a fossilised egg of an unborn dinosaur dubbed "Baby Yingliang." It’s the best-preserved dinosaur embryo fossil so far, said Liu Liang, curator of the Fujian Provincial Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum, which houses the egg fossil. The researchers suggest that the posture of the fetal dinosaur resembles that of today’s birds that are about to hatch.
A dinosaur fossil found in China’s southwest Yunnan Province in late May 2021, is said to be about 180 millions years old. The rare skeleton found in Lufeng county is reportedly 70 per cent complete. According to Lufeng city’s Dinosaur Fossil Conservation and Research Centre, it belonged to a Lufengosaurus, a dinosaur that lived in southwestern China in the early Jurassic period.

Australian scientists have announced the discovery of one of the largest dinosaur species ever, formally named Australotitan cooperensis. Paleontologists believe that the new species was as long as a basketball court and as tall as a two-storey building. The bones were first uncovered more than a decade ago, although the species was only confirmed in a research paper published on June 7, 2021.

Paleontologists have discovered remains of a 98 million-year-old titanosaur in Neuquén province in Patagonia in northwestern Argentina. Their research published on January 12, 2021, said the fossilised remains might be from the largest creature to have ever walked the Earth. The massive fossils were discovered in 2012, but work to excavate them only got under way in 2015.
