India grapples with second wave of Covid-19 infections and deaths

On the first anniversary of a nationwide lockdown, India is grappling with a resurgence in Covid-19 infections. The country has seen its biggest surge in months, with 46,951 cases and 212 deaths on March 22, 2021. It’s the world's third-worst affected country after the United States and Brazil. The country, which is the world’s biggest vaccine maker, started its Covid-19 vaccination drive in mid-January, but the progress of its campaign has been relatively slow.
