Tattoos help Vietnamese women heal from physical and emotional trauma

Inside a tiny flat in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, middle-aged women are lining up for appointments with tattoo artist Ngoc Like. Many of her customers, who have had their lives upended by divorce, illness or other mental or physical trauma, are searching for healing through skin art – which is still considered taboo in Vietnam.
