Thai temple attempts world record with 330,000 candles lit to mark Earth Day

Monks at Thailand’s Dhammakaya Temple on April 22, 2021, challenged a Guinness World Record for the largest flaming image by lighting 330,000 candles. The candles were arranged in the shape of a map of the world and a Buddha figure, to mark Earth Day. It is estimated that around 300,000 monks and devotees attended the ceremony via Zoom due to coronavirus restrictions.
