Thailand factory explosion sparks mass evacuation over fears of toxic fumes

At least one person was killed and 62 injured during a massive explosion at a factory on the outskirts of Bangkok in the early hours of July 5, 2021. The blast tore through a foam and plastic pellet plant, which according to officials, contained more than 50 tonnes (55 tons) of chemicals. Local residents within an 8km (5 miles) radius of the factory were evacuated, amid fears of toxic fumes and the possibility of another explosion.
