India’s worst dengue fever outbreak in years strikes northern state of Uttar Pradesh

The northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has been hit by an outbreak of dengue fever since September 2021. At least 58 people, many of them children, have died in one of its districts alone, amid growing concern that Uttar Pradesh is facing its worst outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease in years. Hospitals in the affected areas have set up dedicated wards for dengue patients.
