Thailand decriminalises selling and growing cannabis
Thailand has delisted cannabis as a narcotic, the first country in Southeast Asia to legalise the use of marijuana. Known for its tough policies on drug trafficking, the conservative Buddhist nation made the move in apparent recognition of the growing market for marijuana-infused food and medicinal cannabis. From June 9, 2022, it will no longer be a crime to grow and trade marijuana and hemp products, and the health ministry plans to give away 1 million plants to households.
