Half a billion dollars worth of drugs set on fire in Southeast Asia’s Golden Triangle

Authorities in Myanmar have torched more than half a billion dollars worth of seized narcotics, including nearly 2 tonnes (2,000kg) of heroin and over US$630 million worth of meth. This came as the Southeast Asian country saw a record number of methamphetamine production, especially in its northern Shan state. Coined the Golden Triangle, Myanmar and its two neighbouring countries of Laos and Thailand are notorious hotspots for drug trafficking.
