At least 8 dead, dozens injured as blizzard tears through northwest Japan

A blizzard in northwest Japan left at least eight people dead and dozens injured as of the morning of December 23, 2022. The snowstorm has been battering the coast of the Sea of Japan or East Sea since December 17, causing massive traffic disruptions and leaving tens of thousands without power. Japan’s Meteorological Agency reports the storm is intensifying.
