India set to overtake China as the world's most populous country in 2023, UN predicts

Since 2022 marked the year China saw its first population decline in nearly six decades, India is now expected to become the world’s most populous country in 2023, according to United Nations projections. India’s population currently stands at nearly 1.4066 billion, compared to China’s 1.4118 billion.
