Friends and family bid final farewell to 17-year-old Thai cave survivor
A funeral was held on March 6, 2023, for one of the 12 boys rescued from a flooded cave in northern Thailand in July 2018. Duangpetch Promthep died in the United Kingdom on February 14 after reportedly falling on the ground and suffering a head injury. The ashes of the teen arrived in his home province of Chiang Rai on March 4. The 17-year-old was captain of the Wild Boars football team whose members were trapped in the cave by rising floodwaters for 18 days before rescuers freed them.
