Mount Mayon erupted on June 11, 2023, displacing hundreds of people, mostly from poor farming communities located within a 6km (3.7 miles) radius of the eruption. Three days after the eruption, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr paid a visit to the temporary shelters to meet some of the evacuees.
