Chinese ‘smelly’ snail noodles go slow and steady to win popularity race across Asia

Once obscure to anyone outside China’s southern Liuzhou city, pungent noodles known as luosifen exploded in popularity among young Chinese diners during the Covid-19 pandemic. Served in a broth made with river snails, the noodles have a strong flavour that often draws comparisons to another local favourite dish, durian fruit. Luosifen is now even starting to attract fans in nearby countries.
