North Korea says it has successfully launched a spy satellite into orbit. The “Malligyong-1” satellite was launched on a new carrier rocket on November 21, 2023, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency. The latest launch was condemned by Japan and South Korea, which called it a “clear violation” of a UN Security Council. But Pyongyang said it was within its legal right to strengthen its self-defence.
