World’s largest contract chip maker TSMC inaugurates its first plant in Japan

Semiconductor manufacturing giant TSMC inaugurated its first plant in Japan, as part of efforts to revitalise the country's once cutting-edge semiconductor industry. Located in Kumamoto prefecture and surrounded by tech giants like Sony, the plant signifies a strategic investment in Japan's technological landscape, with plans for Japan to help the Taiwan semiconductor giant build a second chip-fabrication plant starting from the end of 2024.
