Deadly blast at department store in Taichung in central Taiwan

At least four people were killed in a massive explosion that hit a shopping centre in Taichung, Taiwan, on February 13, 2025. Local media reports said at least 10 other people were injured. Taichung City’s mayor Lu Shiow-yen confirmed the initial death toll from the blast. It happened at about 11.30am at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, a high-end retail centre in central Taiwan, according to the island’s Central News Agency.
