At least 22 killed after construction crane collapses onto passing train in Thailand

A construction crane has crashed onto a passenger train near a Beijing-backed high-speed railway project in Thailand, causing a deadly derailment. Local authorities said at least 22 people were killed and more than 30 were injured. Rescue efforts were under way for hours after the crash happened at around 9am local time on January 14, 2026.
