‘Sweet dreams’: sleep-deprived South Koreans take part in annual power-nap competition

Scores of South Koreans in the capital Seoul have taken part in a power-napping competition. All contestants had to do was slumber their way through the 90-minute competition on May 2, 2026. The event highlighted a chronic issue for South Korea, one of the most overworked and sleep-deprived nations among Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) members.
