Gunfire broke out inside the Philippine Senate building on May 13, 2026, forcing Senator Ronald dela Rosa to move to another section in the legislative building. The former police chief had sought refuge in the Senate building after the International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed a warrant for his arrest over his alleged role in former president Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war. Dela Rosa has maintained his innocence and said the warrant is politically motivated.
