Chinese couple guard China’s remote Kaishan Island outpost for 32 years

A Chinese woman who guarded a remote Chinese outpost for 32 years alongside her husband has vowed to continue her sentry duties after he died. Wang Shihua has been promoted to the position of honorary outpost chief of Kaishan Island, a barren rock located 12 nautical miles off the coastal city of Lianyungang in northeastern Jiangsu province.
