China insists Taiwan has no right to join United Nations

A spokesman of China’s State Council Taiwan Affairs Office has insisted that Taiwan has no right to join the United Nations. The statement by Ma Xiaoguang during a weekly press conference on October 27, 2021, came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged UN member states to support the self-ruled island’s participation in the international stage.
