Biden says he does not think China planning ‘imminent attempt’ to invade Taiwan

US President Joe Biden told a news conference on November 14, 2022, after his first face-to-face talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping since taking office that they had “candid” talks over several issues contributing to the worst US-China relations in decades. Biden told reporters he does not “think there is any imminent attempt on the part of China to invade Taiwan”. Biden said he sought to assure Xi that US policy on Taiwan had not changed, seeking to lower tensions over the self-ruled island.
