Philippines condemns ‘floating barrier’ set up by Chinese fishermen in Scarborough Shoal

The Philippines has accused China’s coastguard of building a “floating barrier” in a disputed area in the South China Sea. Philippine authorities released a video showing several Chinese coastguard vessels near the floating barrier in part of the Scarborough Shoal on September 20, 2023. Manila said the barrier prevented Philippine fishermen from entering and fishing in the area.
