Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will make a fresh US$100 billion investment in the United States involving the construction of additional chipmaking facilities in the country. The plan was unveiled on March 3, 2025, as the chip giant’s CEO met US President Donald Trump at the White House. The world's largest contract chipmaker is a leading supplier to major US hardware manufacturers and the move would reportedly make the US less reliant on semiconductors made in Asia.
