A tariff truce between the United States and China may have helped kick-start the resumption of trade between the two countries, but manufacturers of Halloween decorations in the eastern Chinese city of Yiwu are feeling ghosted. US President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports, which eventually reached 145 per cent in April 2025, had prompted waves of American buyers to suspend or delay their orders for the October Halloween season, disrupting sales for many Chinese manufacturers.
