Beijing has accused Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of “seriously damaging bilateral ties” by saying that the use of military force in the Taiwan Strait could be seen as a “survival-threatening situation” for Japan. Takaichi’s remarks to the Japanese parliament on November 7, 2025, have led to a deterioration in ties between the two countries.
