Baidu driverless taxis break down across Wuhan

Baidu’s Apollo Go driverless robotaxis suffered a citywide ‘system malfunction’.

On March 31, 2026, passengers riding in Baidu’s Apollo Go driverless robotaxis were left stranded in Wuhan, China, after the vehicles suddenly stopped moving. Riders reported being stuck for up to 30 minutes when the vehicles froze in heavy traffic – raising concerns about the safety of Baidu’s driverless taxis. Local traffic police blamed a “system malfunction” that caused the robotaxis to stop working.
