In Uganda, women in labour die amid Covid-19 lockdown

In Uganda, at least seven women in labour died on their way to hospitals amid the country’s Covid-19 lockdown. Local officials banned private vehicles on March 30, fearing that the pandemic could overwhelm the already overburdened medical facilities. Many women could only reach the hospitals on foot.
