Taiwan calls off Lunar New Year festival celebration to stem rare Covid-19 outbreak

Taiwan cancelled its popular lantern festival during the upcoming Lunar New Year. The announcement came on January 19, 2021, after the island reported four locally transmitted Covid-19 infections on the same day. It was the daily case rise since February 29, 2020. Taiwan has so far been widely praised for its handling of the coronavirus health crisis.
