England lifts Covid-19 restrictions as infections surge
England lifted Covid-19 restrictions on what British media reports have described as “Freedom Day”. The UK government allowed almost all lockdowns to end in England from July 19, 2021. Face mask requirements were also lifted for most public areas except on London public transport. In response, thousands of people flocked to nightclubs for the first time in almost 18 months. But the relaxations come as the number of coronavirus infections continues to rise in the country.
