Some residents and migrant workers in Shanghai, China, are now allowed to leave the city, provided they obtain permission from district committees and show a negative nucleic acid test taken within the last 48 hours. On May 28, 2022, the city hit a new daily low number of Covid-19 infections since mid-March. Shanghai government officials have unveiled a comprehensive 50-point plan to repair the city’s economy as it prepares to reopen from June 1 after two months of lockdown. Shanghai aims to restore business activity, production and daily livelihoods to full normality by the end of June.
