Former Hong Kong leader CY Leung does not rule out returning to post

In a March 3 interview, former Hong Kong leader Leung Chun-ying did not rule out running for chief executive again in the city. The 66-year-old is among the most vocal supporters of the Chinese mainland’s tightening control over Hong Kong. He served as the city’s chief executive from 2012 to 2017 and is now vice-chairman of Beijing’s top political advisory body, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Current Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam’s five-year term will end in March 2022.
